Township schedules Jan. 23 UTMA meeting amid dispute over Delmont sewer lateral

Chair Bob Zundel confirmed a meeting with the Utility and Township Municipal Authority (UTMA/Unity) set for Jan. 23 to discuss outstanding sanitary sewer issues. Solicitor Falatovich said Unity still has questions for UTMA and will not circulate a memorandum of understanding at this time; a detailed letter will be sent to the relevant party outlining options to resolve the matter.
Resident and elected auditor Matt Rebitch told the board that Delmont did not obtain required easements for a lateral and that Delmont’s proposed conversion of an existing sanitary connection to a private lateral is not permitted under the 2015 transfer agreement between Salem and Delmont. He said the affected house has lacked a code‑compliant lateral since November. Solicitor Falatovich said township consideration of alternatives is required because the affected customer is a Salem resident.
