Alamogordo adopts updated subdivision regulations (Ordinance 17-24) after commission vote

The Alamogordo City Commission unanimously adopted Ordinance 17-24, updating the city's subdivision regulations and moving references to extraterritorial jurisdiction into a separate part of the land development code. Shelly Barron of Community Development explained the ordinance changes and said the commission agreed to remove extraterritorial jurisdiction language for separate future consideration: "We will strike that completely from this ordinance... and we will incorporate that in the future in a separate portion of the land development code," she said.
Barron described an allowance in the new code for levying a fee in a future fee schedule to cover drainage and detention maintenance; she used examples to illustrate potential costs, noting a Fairgrounds Commercial subdivision example that would equate to roughly $20,000 and estimating annual detention maintenance at about $20,000. Commissioner Patel moved to approve, Commissioner Robinson seconded, and the ordinance passed 7-0.
