Board hears continued septic installations and rising recreational-property development

At the Jan. 22 meeting of the Anaconda Deer Lodge County Board of Health, environmental health staff reported that septic-system installations are continuing through a mild winter and that many recreational properties are being developed, resulting in numerous installs within existing subdivisions.
Staff said a few new subdivisions are in review and could proceed to development in spring and summer, and that last year produced “many plan reviews,” particularly tied to ownership changes at food establishments. Department staff said they are working to provide ServSafe food-safety training for establishments across the tri-county jurisdiction to support safer food handling during transitions of ownership.
