Rad closing delayed after HUD requests additional environmental review component

Secretary Kaitlin Leary told the Housing Authority Board on Jan. 15 that the planned RAD (Rental Assistance Demonstration) closing has been delayed after the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requested an additional component be added to the required Environmental Review. "Closing has again been delayed," Leary said, adding that the additional review component required publication of a 30-day notice in The Leader on Jan. 14, 2026.
Leary told commissioners the revised timeline now anticipates closing toward the end of February but said staff were "ticking right along despite this." The board did not take further action on the RAD schedule at the meeting; Leary said a final RAD tenant meeting will be scheduled for February. The update was informational only and no motion or vote was recorded on the subject.
