Commission authorizes payment and short extension to JLL leasing agreement

City staff presented a first amendment to the exclusive leasing agreement with Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) intended primarily to authorize payment for leasing services and extend the agreement to May 2026 to allow a second payment of $62,593. Development and intergovernmental affairs officer Devon Campbell called the item a “cleanup” to permit payment for services rendered helping the city secure retail tenants in Miramar Town Center.
Campbell told the commission: “The item before you tonight is, essentially a cleanup item to get our vendor JLL paid.” He said the extension is intended to enable payment of a second installment and that staff does not anticipate new leasing services from JLL beyond what was already provided. Commissioners asked why the contract needed to remain active if services were complete; staff said the extension provides a contractual basis to make the final payment and to account for a still-pending lease fee associated with one tenant.
The commission approved the amendment by roll call. The recorded vote was Yes from Commissioners Chambers, Shahrazad, Vice Mayor Ivette Coburn and Commissioner Edwards. Staff said funds for the payment were allocated in the city’s budget and that no additional leasing obligations are expected under the extended term.
