Staff described a three-tier reduction framework and recommended the committee first identify Category 3 items it would not accept, then move toward Category 1 proposals. "In order to make sure that we do this kind of effectively, I recommend that we start with the category 3 and develop consensus on what we as a committee are not willing to reduce and then work our way up," the presenter said.
Committee members iterated specific Category 1 proposals — for example, reducing bunk rooms from eight to six, cutting one public restroom in the foyer, and modestly shrinking kitchen and day-room footprints. Staff said H2M agreed, at no extra cost, to review the committee’s reductions and validate the estimates; the presenter said he will send Category 1 items to H2M and report back on timing, and that the committee could meet Aug. 5 if H2M delivers numbers before the Aug. 10 Select Board briefing.
