Resident urges Alpine to update municipal code on golf‑cart street use

During the public‑comment period Mario Jimenez, an Alpine resident since 1998, urged the council to modernize the municipal code to explicitly address golf‑cart operation on city streets and parking. He said the current code only addresses golf carts for snow parking and is otherwise vague, and he encouraged Alpine to adopt language similar to Highland City's December 2025 update that mirrors Utah state provisions: "May I then suggest that the Alpine City promptly update their municipal code by adapting an equivalent document to the Highland City did in December 2025?" Jimenez said.

Jimenez said the change would improve mobility options for seniors and provide a lower‑emission transport alternative. Councilmembers noted that any code change would have to be drafted by staff and returned as an ordinance or code amendment for public hearings and formal adoption; no formal action was taken at the meeting other than acknowledging the comment and the request to study the matter.
