EMS: 8,451 calls this year; $305,000 ambulance grant submitted and training classes full

Bedford County Emergency Medical Services reported running 8,451 calls for the year and said personnel and training efforts are helping maintain service despite weather-related operational challenges. The EMS representative said two classes (EMT and advanced EMT) will start soon and are at or over capacity.
"We're fighting the same thing everybody else is, rain and heat..." the EMS representative said, and noted, "we are still working with the state on the grant that got signed and turned in for the $305,000 for an ambulance." The committee thanked EMS staff for recruiting and training and approved forwarding routine reports to the commission.
