Florence County Council on June 18 approved the county's budget and tax levy for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and authorized the issuance of general obligation bonds not to exceed $4,360,000.
County Administrator Kevin Yokim presented the ordinances and described the readings; Council gave final approval on the third reading after routine motions. "The motion was approved on the third reading of the ordinance by the members present," the minutes record. Several council members used a proxy for the absent Councilman Stoney C. Moore on multiple votes.
The bond ordinance (Ordinance No. 55-2025/26) prescribes purposes for which the bond proceeds will be expended and provides for bond payment mechanisms. The budget ratification (Ordinance No. 54-2025/26) and the tax levy ordinance (Ordinance No. 01-2026/27) were approved in the same session. Councilman Willard Dorriety moved approval of multiple third-reading items and Vice-Chairman C. William Schofield seconded; the record shows the motions carried. The council meeting packet and ordinances are posted on the county website for review.
The council did not indicate amendments to the bond cap or levy on the floor; County staff said any further implementation details would be handled by the administrator and finance office.
