Police: Busy February, pedestrian fatality noted; fire department to take over used cruiser

Chief of Police Derrick Tienken told the Select Board that February was a very busy month for the department and that a pedestrian fatality from that month will be included in the March report. He praised the response of first responders on the scene.
Tienken said the department has a promising applicant to fill a vacancy when a current officer retires and that interviews will be scheduled so any Select Board member may attend. He also reported the fire department will take possession of a used police cruiser; Town Administrator Lissa Stark said the vehicle will need to be re‑registered prior to transfer.
Highway Foreman Trevor Dryden also noted receipt of an unusual written communication from the Agency of Transportation about Route 30 maintenance after emergency actions taken by highway staff to keep roads open; Coleman suggested waiting until winter ends to respond to AOT.
