Clerk reports election-year needs; office monitoring poll-book vendor recertification

Clerk's office staff reviewed the election-year budget lines and annual operating items, including postage, MiFi, poll-book equipment and contracted digitization services. The chief deputy clerk told the council that a poll-book software vendor has signaled it may not pursue recertification after this fall's general election; the clerk said the print-on-demand printers purchased with a recent grant are portable and will work with alternate poll-book vendors.
The office proposed modest operating amounts for absentee envelopes, print-on-demand maintenance and polling-place logistics, and staff emphasized they will track any vendor recertification developments and report back with contingency contracts if needed. "Those print-on-demand printers that I purchased with the grant money ... will be compatible with any poll book that she decides to go with," the clerk's chief deputy said. Council members asked the clerk to update the council with vendor status before the next budget step.
