Weatherford library says summer-reading participation has already topped last year

Library staff reported that, with eight days remaining in the summer program, participation had already exceeded last year’s numbers across age groups and highlighted growth in adult programming and site visits.
The library reported stronger participation in its summer-reading challenge this year, saying that with days left in the program the library had already surpassed last year’s numbers "in all areas." Staff credited increased adult programming and outreach for higher engagement.
The librarian told the board, "even with 8 days remaining, we have surpassed last year's numbers in all areas." Staff also reported significant circulation this year, noting approximately "207,000 items somewhere this year" had passed through the system and expressing interest in comparing those totals to similar libraries in the region to better understand scale and per-capita performance. The library will present a full-year review at the October meeting.
