Resident urges Margate commission to restore Zoom and point cameras at podium speakers

Mister Kraljuk, who identified himself as a Margate voter, told the commission that recent procedural changes ― including turning the broadcast camera away from podium speakers and disabling comments on the city's social-media accounts ― make public commenters feel less respected. "Begin by pointing the camera towards speakers," he said, and asked the commission to reinstate Zoom public comment and social-media comment permissions.
Several other residents echoed the request. Commissioner Simone said she has heard the same concerns from residents who watch meetings on Zoom and Comcast and agreed that showing the speaker on camera would help remote viewers recognize voices and names. The mayor said interested parties may submit proposals and that staff would explore feasible camera and broadcast changes.
The commission did not take formal action at the meeting but discussed options and asked staff to follow up; no timeline for a change was announced.
