County awards $2.47M resurfacing contract and $775,715 interstate monument signs contract

Florence County awarded two contract bids at its April 16 meeting. Council approved Bid No. 29‑25/26, CPSTIII resurfacing projects for Districts 8 and 9, to Chipley Company, Inc. of Florence for $2,466,138.38; the county received three compliant bids and Chipley was the lowest responsible bidder. The bid expires July 1, 2026.
The council also approved Bid No. 18‑25/26 for Florence interstate monument signs to Rite Lite Signs, Inc. of Concord, N.C., for $775,715.00. That project was rebid after an initial solicitation drew no bidders; one compliant bid was received. County staff noted lighting will have to be added via change order because the engineers did not provide lighting specs in the bid package.
