Selectboard approves amended RFP for cleaning services, adds sole-proprietor language

The Selectboard discussed procurement language and insurance requirements for an RFP to hire cleaning services for town facilities. Beth Grant and Al Bilka urged clearer language to enable local sole proprietors to bid while protecting the town from liability. Lissa Stark read revised contract language into the record: "The selected contractor will be required to furnish proof of professional liability insurance, worker's compensation insurance, or comparable non-employee work agreement between contractor and Town of Winhall, and documentation of all licensing prior to signing contract." Grant pressed to permit local residents to bid and the board amended the language to include the term "Sole Proprietor Non-Employee Work Agreement."
Selectboard member E Stuart Coleman moved to approve the RFP with the added 'Sole Proprietor' wording; Christie Boswell seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Members also asked that future RFPs be circulated to the board in advance so members can review them before meetings.
