Rockport to use district reserves for $10,000 playground repairs after safety walk-through

Town/business manager June Santalipo said the district will use reserve funds to address immediate safety needs rather than waiting for capital outlay funding through town meeting. "Now at that price, we could certainly put it on capital outlay as a request and a safety issue...The downside of that is you're not gonna see that money until after town meeting," Santalipo said; she added the district decided to tap reserves so the playground can be repaired and back in use within a 6–8 week delivery window.
Committee members discussed whether some costs could be shared with the town for assets heavily used by the public and asked about the distinction between wear-and-tear and sudden breakage. Administrators said they will contract with the playground vendor for annual off-season inspections going forward and will prioritize any adaptive equipment in need of immediate attention.
