Treasurer Julie presented the county's April financials, reporting total cash across county offices of $20,505,128 and interest earned in April of $58,560.23; she said the average interest rate for the month was 3.54% and that Texas Fit (an investment pool) yielded about 3.90% for the county's funds. Julie explained that the larger aggregate cash figure includes tax-assessor and district-clerk accounts and is not all unencumbered general-fund cash.
Julie said the county had collected $4,811,251 of an assumed $4,900,000 property-tax budget by the end of April and reported a general-fund surplus of $1,760,772 in fund 100. She noted audit-related adjustments for fiscal 2025 are still pending and that some interfund due-tos and proposed audit journal entries will affect final balances once the audit closes. The court moved and seconded to accept the treasurer's report, and approved it by voice vote.
Commissioners asked staff to follow up on outstanding receivables (including an invoice sent to Presidio County) and to continue reconciling due-to/due-from balances during the audit process.
