The Margate Planning & Zoning Board held internal elections at its April 7 meeting and appointed Joseph Eppi as chair following several nomination attempts and roll‑call votes.
Nominations began for chair with an early motion to appoint Richard Zucchini that failed on roll call. After subsequent nominations, a motion to appoint Joseph Eppi as chair was made and seconded; roll‑call votes recorded three 'Yes' and two 'No', and the board declared Eppi chair. The clerk recorded the vote: Michael Marquez and Maroon (Nohern/O'Harn transcription variants) voted No; Richard Zucchini, Joseph Eppi and Elsa Sanchez voted Yes.
The board also elected Elsa Sanchez as vice chair in a roll‑call vote and selected Michael Marquez as secretary. The city attorney presided over the process until the chair was officially seated and handed the gavel to Eppi. No formal ethics findings were made during the elections, though later in the meeting the city attorney cautioned against using board time for personal agendas.
