The commission approved the consent agenda and a string of resolutions and ordinances on April 1. The roll-call votes recorded passing minutes and routine items; commissioners also confirmed Broward League of Cities appointments and approved a Planning & Zoning Board appointment (see separate coverage).
On first reading commissioners approved an amendment to Margate's exclusive franchise agreement with Republic Services to clarify use of scholarship-program funds and also approved zoning amendments to allow pet-care uses in specified business districts and a one-time exception to nonconforming-use limits to permit a pawnshop expansion (that pawnshop exception drew one 'No' vote). On second reading the commission adopted comprehensive-plan updates to accept the updated 10-year water-supply facilities work plan for transmittal to the Florida Department of Commerce.
All votes were taken by roll call and recorded in the minutes. The city attorney read ordinance and resolution titles into the record before each roll-call vote.
