City staff updated the council on short-term rental (STR) compliance efforts. Scott McDonald (speaker 12) said the STR ordinance went into effect midyear; staff has issued 15 permits so far, there are 24 active rentals today, six pending applications awaiting inspection, and three additional applications in process.
Council members asked whether active and pending rentals were remitting hotel occupancy (HOT) taxes; McDonald confirmed they are. The mayor said the ordinance appears to have addressed many neighborhood concerns and that the city is gathering HOT funds that are restricted to specific allowable uses.
