The Board of Education of Holly Area Schools spent a significant portion of its May 18 meeting recognizing student and staff accomplishments across the district. Superintendent Roper and Executive Director Szczechowicz highlighted districtwide achievements including Holly High School’s 47th Annual Awards Assembly and multiple students honored by Holly Area Youth Assistance for leadership, perseverance and service.
Among the items reported, Holly High School and Broncho Virtual School teams placed fourth at the MITES State Construction Competition, and Athletic Director Casey Lombard was named the 2026 Genesee County Athletic Director of the Year. The district also described strong assessment and program participation: middle school students completed state and benchmark testing, more than 130 students participated in the Washington, D.C. trip (the largest group in program history), and 337 students earned Triple Crown honors. Elementary schools reported ongoing i‑Ready growth and preparations for 5th grade camp and summer programs.
Board members and administration thanked Holly Area Youth Assistance, the Pioneer Parents Group and other community partners for support of events such as the spring carnival (more than 200 attendees) and Title I Science Night in partnership with the Sloan Museum. The recognition segment closed with Superintendent Roper congratulating students and staff for the year’s accomplishments and outlining upcoming summer learning opportunities.
