Summer and Pleasant Street work delayed by NHDES review; NHDOT backs improvements and approves commemorative bridge sign

Select Board members reported the Summer Street and Pleasant Street project is nearly complete in preparation but remains delayed while awaiting final approval from the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES), which has been experiencing staffing shortages and has taken about five months to review the matter.
Board members also said they met with the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT), which indicated support for proposed infrastructure changes at the head of Summer Street, including relocating a manhole and constructing a rain garden, with the goal of beginning construction in August. Separately, Michael Sununu reported NHDOT has approved placement of a commemorative sign for the Route 108 bridge in honor of Bill Tebo; however, an official renaming would require an act of the New Hampshire Legislature and a governor's signature, and the Board is seeking a legislative sponsor for the next session.
