Mike Kessler, Chair of the Celebration Committee, told the Select Board the Memorial Day 250th Celebration was successful—with a naval launch at Chapman’s Landing, parade, community picnic, Revolutionary War skirmish and pancake breakfast—and that the fireworks were postponed due to weather but rescheduled smoothly.
Kessler outlined plans for a Fall Festival featuring a DJ, food trucks, face painting, games, a beer tent, and other family-friendly activities; the committee is coordinating with NES for a farmers’ market and hopes to partner with NYA, the Library and Friends for added activities. He asked permission to place a beer tent in front of Town Hall; after brief discussion the Board expressed support "contingent upon compliance with all applicable Liquor Commission requirements." The committee plans its next meeting on August 15 at 10:00 a.m. and encouraged volunteers to join planning efforts.
