The South Dakota Transportation Commission convened at 9:00 a.m. CT Feb. 12 in Pierre. Chairman Austin Simons led a roll call that confirmed a quorum and opened the floor for required conflict disclosures and public input; none were reported.
The commission heard two items of business. Craig Smith, Division Director of Operations, presented a department recommendation to revise Section 4.4 of the Special Provision for Price Schedule for Miscellaneous Items to update flagging and pilot‑car pricing. Commissioners approved the change on a motion by Commissioner Don Roby, seconded by Commissioner Lynn Jensen, with all present voting aye.
Sam Weisgram of the Office of Project Development presented bid letting results for four projects covering structure work, chip seal and centerline rumble stripes. Commissioners voted, on a motion by Commissioner Mike Vehle and a second from Commissioner Ron Rosenboom, to approve bids #1–4. The recorded award amounts totaled $3,771,645.17.
