Shelby County adopts FY2026 budget amendment to fund land purchase, trail match and other reserves

On July 13 the Shelby County Commission adopted Resolution 2026-07-13-08, a FY2026 budget amendment that adjusts revenues and expenses to support several items including the Forever Wild land purchase match and the Buck Creek Trail local match.
The amendment accounts for $500,000 in additional SSUT revenue, uses $1,540,000 of fund balance reserves and increases expenses by $2,345,000 related to the Forever Wild purchase and the county’s share of the Buck Creek Trail match. The resolution identifies specific reserve line-items and directs the County Manager, or designee, to implement the budgets for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026.
The motion to approve the budget amendment was made by Commissioner Lindsey Allison and seconded by Commissioner Robbie Hayes; the vote was unanimous.
