Margate proclaims Arbor Day and recognizes long‑service city employees

Mayor Serio proclaimed April 24, 2026 as Arbor Day and invited Parks & Recreation Director Mike Jones to announce the city's tree giveaway for Margate residents on April 25. "Bring your ID," the mayor told residents; Parks staff said the distribution begins at 8 a.m. and trees are first‑come, first‑served.
Earlier the commission honored a series of long‑service employees. Major Jurzbeck recognized Kelly Kandobovich (30 years), Angel Maldonado (20 years) and Officer Joshua Marte (5 years) for police department service; Fire Chief Roberto Lozano presented plaques to Firefighter Paramedic Mike Dunbar, Deputy Chief Daniel Rodriguez and Lieutenant Jonathan Valente for 25 years of service. Commissioner comments highlighted the city's long employee tenure and the role of families in supporting first responders.
"It's a testament to how people feel about coming to work for the city," Mayor Serio said of the honorees' long tenures.
