Alex Scott, who said he started the Crusader football team about 10 years ago and now co‑owns and operates the team, told council the group planned a family-oriented 'fun day' at Sunset Park on June 20 to precede a home game. Scott described food sales to raise funds for the team, face‑painting and informal family activities and said the team had secured an insurance certificate and paid the park rental fee ($500) as required under the permit agreement.
Council asked about parking and crowd control; staff and Scott said the team would keep a table near the playground and ask followers to park to the north and east to keep spots near the shelter free for families. Chair thanked the group and council approved the event when the consent calendar vote was taken. "We just got we've got a table set up right by the tree that separates the jungle gym and then the field itself," Alex Scott said when describing the setup.
Why this matters: the council approved a neighborhood fundraiser with public‑space use, confirming insurance and park-fee arrangements while providing guidance on parking and vendor expectations.
