County approves golf maintenance purchases; commissioners cite nearly $1.9M in course revenue for 2025

The Ways and Means Committee approved supplemental appropriations for golf maintenance equipment at Stony Ford ($177,560) and Hickory Hill ($128,126) as part of the 2026 Capital Plan. Commissioner Travis Ewald said both courses generated a combined total of roughly $1.9 million in revenue in the prior year, with Stony Ford reporting $962,650 and Hickory Hill $945,868.
Ewald said equipment and lease costs are increasing and the department may need to adjust rates to offset higher expenses: "We have to bump it up more this year because our golf cart lease is up and...the costs have almost doubled," he said. Legislators discussed fee structures, senior and student discounts and agreed Parks and Physical Services could provide a deeper multiyear financial review.
