Commissioners hear transportation bond and project updates; Midway bids due July 31

County transportation staff delivered the July program update, describing current design, permitting and construction status for multiple precinct projects and bond-funded work.

"We continue to do the website and Power BI updates, kinda tracking the program," said Chris Bosco of Breece & Nichols, who reported no dollar changes in the recent TIP revisions and said Midway was advertised with bids targeted to open July 31. Bosco walked through precinct-level items including right-of-way agreements, Thomas Road design finalization, right-turn lane work and coordination with TxDOT on connections to county roads.

Commissioners pressed staff to add clearer, public-facing milestones on the project website so residents calling with questions can see when phases reach critical thresholds. "I think that needs to be kinda clearly explained," one commissioner said, citing variability in start and finish dates due to weather and permitting. Bosco agreed to add more project-level detail to each project page and related reporting tools.

On Oak Ridge, Bosco said advertising in August would likely lead to actual construction activity — lighter initial traffic-control work followed by heavier construction about two months later, roughly early October for visible bulldozers on site. The court did not take a formal action on the broad report but approved individual item motions later in the agenda.
