Resolution 141-26 authorized procurement of nine Corning optical splitters for Phase 2 of the Yates County ReConnect broadband project (NY1702-A61 & A75). Three written quotes were solicited: Anixter ($8,266.50), Power & Tel ($7,209.00), and Graybar ($5,593.05). The Legislature authorized purchasing from Graybar for an amount not to exceed $5,800 and charged the cost to the ReConnect project account.
During discussion, Legislator Terry Button asked why the county needed to supply the splitters; Mr. Ayers, Director of Planning, confirmed the materials were not originally included in the infrastructure and characterized the procurement as effectively a change order to ensure completion of Phase 2. The vote was unanimous.
