Runway 16/34 maintenance slated AprilMay after $3.15M low bid

An airport engineer told the Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport Board that Runway 16/34 maintenance has been awarded to Powder River Construction, Inc. as the low bidder for $3,147,095.00. The work will require a runway shutdown beginning April 6 and continuing through 6:00 p.m. on May 21, 2026, the engineer reported.
Pat Stetson of Morrison and Maierle said the preconstruction meeting is scheduled for March and that the project is funded largely through FAA AIP funding with smaller state and PFC shares (the project breakdown reported as 95% FAA, 2.5% state, 2.5% PFCs). Board members were given the schedule and cost; the board approved related capital budget amendments during the meeting to reflect project carryover changes.
The airport will publish operational notices to users as construction approaches and the board was briefed on coordination steps with contractors and FAA representatives ahead of the shutdown.
