Commission plans Phase 2 RFP for vault restoration after splitting bids; $44,000 CPC funds earmarked

Commissioners said Preservation Inc.'s initial combined scope for the vault restoration produced bids higher than available funds, so the work was split into Phase 1 (roof and wood trim) and Phase 2 (repointing and other masonry), with Phase 1 completed and Phase 2 planned. "We currently have, I believe, it's $44,000 in change, for phase 2 of the vault building," Peter Williams said, referring to CPC funds reallocated from the Hearse House to the vault project.
Williams said Preservation Inc. has prepared a revised Request for Proposals for Phase 2 and the commission intends to issue it and seek bids. Commissioners noted Phase 2 may still require funding beyond the $44,000 and that any use of trust principal would require a warrant item; the commission will review bids and funding options before committing to further spending.
