Board approves $3.9M low bid and awards culinary water tank contract to MC Contractors

The Summit County Service Area #3 trustees voted to award the culinary water storage tank contract to MC Contractors after receiving bid tabulations from Rimrock Engineering. The low bid recorded in the meeting packet was $3.9 million.
Joe Santos of Rimrock Engineering presented the bid tabulations and staff recommended the lowest responsible bidder, subject to negotiation of contract terms and a pre-award meeting to confirm deliverables. Nathan Bracken (legal counsel) stated the motion to approve the proposal subject to negotiation; Chair Derek Price moved to accept the staff recommendation and Trustee Scott Witkin seconded. The board unanimously approved awarding the contract to MC Contractors (vote 5–0).
Road & Water Manager Chris Bullock told trustees that one more NEPA waiting period remains to satisfy bond requirements and that the district plans to close the bond in early June. Staff also said design of the well house/pump station will proceed once the district knows how much water will divert from the well.
Staff will complete contract negotiations and return final contract documents to the chair and staff for approval, per the motion's conditions.
