Commissioners approve budget amendment tied to new Tasco copier lease

Potter County Commissioners voted to approve a budget amendment to cover anticipated increases tied to a new lease for county copiers and printers and then authorized execution of the county’s interlocal lease with Tasco’s Office Machines. County staff said the proposed 16-month agreement begins June 1 and carries monthly payments of $6,443.32 (about $77,319 annually).
Brandon, who reviewed the new contract and usage, said staff identified four departments likely to exceed prior-year usage under the new rates and warned the county faces a variable per-page cost. “It’s about 6¢ page per, per color copy,” he said, noting the evaluation used prior-year usage and that higher printing this year could require another budget amendment. Commissioners asked whether the county should seek competitive bids; purchasing staff said the county is piggybacking off the City of Amarillo contract and that the approach complies with purchasing policy.
The court approved the budget amendment and then approved entering the Tasco lease under the city interlocal. The judge closed discussion after commissioners agreed to proceed; both votes carried 5–0. The county will monitor departments’ print volumes and said staff may return with further budget adjustments if usage rises.
