Highway department renews tank-compliance contract, hires ADA/Title VI consultant and approves $25,000 authorization

At the July 7 meeting, Highway Superintendent John Pluimer told the board the county will renew its three-year Agreement to Perform Compliance Services with Gasoline Equipment Service, which inspects underground fuel storage tanks to keep the county in compliance with Indiana Department of Environmental Management rules. Pluimer said, "the fee is $625 per month." Commissioner Laura Coons moved to accept the agreement and Commissioner Dan Borgenheimer seconded; the motion passed 3–0.
Pluimer also presented an On-Call Professional Services agreement with USI Consultants, Inc. for ADA and Title VI compliance for two years. The county attorney reviewed the agreement and the board approved it on a 3–0 vote. Pluimer then presented an Authorization to Proceed form for $25,000 with USI; he said the fee will be split 50/50 between the county and the highway department. Commissioners approved the authorization on a motion by Borgenheimer and second by Coons (vote 3–0).
Pluimer told commissioners that since he took the superintendent role the county has received $9.2 million in grants. The approvals provide the highway department with compliance services and consultant access as federal and state-funded projects proceed; the board did not specify a timeline for deliverables at the July 7 meeting.
