Elko County Highway Department plans mag chloride purchase and multiple RTC-funded maintenance projects

Marty Eldridge, assistant road supervisor standing in for Dennis, told the commission the county will advertise bids for the 2025 magnesium chloride season and is planning to order about 2,800 tons to cover approximately 150 miles of application. He also described asphalt preventative maintenance work (type 2 and type 3 slurry), culvert repairs, sign replacements, graveling projects, and other RTC-funded maintenance activities enabled by mild weather.
Eldridge said the county is also preparing an asphalt preventative maintenance plan and will advertise simultaneously with the City of Elko to attract more bidders for slurry projects. He reported that crews have been able to make progress on a range of repairs due to favorable conditions and that several ongoing projects are proceeding smoothly.
"With the Commission's approval this afternoon, we'll be going out to bid for the 2025 mag season. We'll be looking at ordering 2,800 tons of magnesium chloride, for approximately 150 miles worth of application," Eldridge said.
