Commission approves STIP additions, bridge improvement grants and TAP awards

Mike Behm presented two STIP revisions for Commission approval: REV 26‑014 (add FY2026 Regional Transportation Planning/Design project in Box Elder, FY2026 + $5,000,000) and REV 26‑015 (reinsert Lemmon grading and surfacing project in FY2026, FY2026 + $5,700,000 after design rework). The Commission approved both revisions on a motion and voice vote.
Doug Kinniburgh presented the 2026 Bridge Improvement Grant (BIG) applications and recommended awarding all bridge rehabilitation grants except application numbers 3, 8 and 13 and approving the top 10 scoring bridge preservation grants (HANDOUT A); the Commission approved the recommendations and added the awarded projects to the 2026–29 STIP. Behm also presented Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) recommendations; the Department recommended all projects except Platte (Project #11) and proposed a modified award for Harrisburg (Project #5). The Commission approved the TAP awards as recommended and later voted to add the TAP projects to the STIP by revision.
