The council recognized the La Porte Police Department for reaccreditation under the Texas Law Enforcement Best Practices Accreditation Program. A region 14 representative of the Texas Police Chiefs Association presented the certificate and read the effective period; Chief Steve Bullock thanked predecessors and staff members who prepared the agency for reaccreditation, and he singled out lieutenant Brian Bosnango. "When you go up for reaccreditation...we had 0 audits on all of our best practices, which is very rare," Chief Bullock said, noting the lengthy on-site review process.
Council also recognized employees for milestone service: Christopher Nelson (patrol officer) for 10 years; Sergeants Mark Rosenovac and Matt Davidson for 15 years each (noted as not present); and Stephanie Meekins, an EMS lieutenant, for 10 years of service with a background as a paramedic, CPR instructor and car-seat technician. Colleagues praised Meekins' work instructing car-seat safety and training staff. The mayor and council extended congratulations to the department and the award recipients.
