Planning commission approves Borealis Fuels propane storage CUP in Ruby Mountain Industrial Park

Ian Collier of the Division of Planning and Zoning presented application CUP25-012 from Borealis Fuels and Logistics Inc., describing the proposal as a conditional use permit for a propane storage and transfer facility on APN 061001-013 in Ruby Mountain Industrial Park. Collier told the commission the proposal is consistent with M1/general industrial zoning and the county's master plan and recommended approval with conditions including compliance with Nevada Revised Statutes, Elko County code, the Nevada Department of Environmental Protection and the State Fire Marshal.
Corey Rice, Elko County surveyor and senior planner, told the commission staff had not received a response from NDEP regarding whether a permit was required but recommended moving forward so a CUP would be in place if NDEP later required it: "We just thought that it would be best to go ahead and put this conditional use permit in place in case NDEP does decide that it needs to be in place." Commissioner Hartley moved to approve CUP25-012 with staff recommendations; Commissioner Jefferson seconded and the motion carried on a voice vote.
