Superintendent Leighton Anderson (S5) told the panel that the Elko High boiler replacement — listed as project #1 in the packet — had final costs that came in “closer to 1.9 [million],” higher than the roughly $1.55 million estimated when the document was drafted. Anderson said the document is organized by fund, not by priority, and committed to providing a transparent options matrix and cost breakdown for projects in the next iteration: “we are willing to… present kind of the thought processes behind those” projects (Leighton Anderson, S5). Chair (S4) announced, “That motion carries.”
The packet presented several fund sources, including a pay-as-you-go allocation and an AB519 capital improvement fund match; staff said they have applied for state matching funds and expect final award agreements to be completed soon. The panel asked staff to include documented justification for why projects are prioritized and to show alternative repair/replace cost comparisons in future materials.
