Police Chief Travis Ruby updated the council on public-safety data and community outreach during the Dec. 9 meeting.
Chief Ruby introduced Deputy Matt Parker and summarized November statistics: overall arrests declined from October but DUI arrests remained within prior monthly ranges. He said 6 of 15 arrests were Eagle residents and three of those were juveniles, and noted a three‑month trend of declining emergency response times that the department will continue to monitor.
Ruby recounted a multi‑jurisdictional pursuit that originated at the Optimus Sports Complex and ended in crashes and multiple charges (DUI, possession of a controlled substance, driving without privileges, and driving without insurance). He also discussed neighborhood parking complaints near Eagle Middle School and described coordinated responses with detectives, the school resource officer and ACHD to address parking and signage.
On public outreach, Chief Ruby said a recent handicap‑parking enforcement post reached roughly 262,000 views with more than 2,000 interactions and dozens of shares, indicating strong community interest in parking enforcement. He urged residents to use the county’s interactive crime map and reminded the public about holiday safety tips (hide packages, lock garages, limit posting travel plans while away).
Council members thanked the department and asked for continued tracking of neighborhood arrest trends and response times. The chief agreed to include continued reporting and analysis in future updates.
