Friends report: $5,000 grant and ongoing book-sale donations support children's programs

Anne Ritter, president of the Friends of the Eagle Public Library, told trustees that the recent book sale went well and that donations and community support have been strong. She said the Friends received a $5,000 grant (about $2,500 spent to date) and are timing purchases with Scholastic’s bonus offers; purchased books will be distributed through a cart at the Eagle Food Bank so children can select and keep new books.
Ritter said the Friends are in early talks to accept excess books from a school consolidation and that the group continues to expand the target grade levels for purchases (now pre-K through 8th grade). She also thanked the city for the Friends’ lease and workspace, and said the Friends will provide signage and other materials as requested by the library and mayor for the everyday book-sale area.
