Council approves $19,150 to replace two town hall HVAC units

The director of development (Michael, speaker 2) reported the town solicited HVAC proposals from four companies and received three bids. He said Tin Man submitted the lowest responsible quotes and recommended replacing the downstairs unit immediately; the upstairs unit has been off for about three years because its heat exchanger failed. The director noted there was no discount for doing both units together but recommended replacing both eventually.
A council member moved and the council approved $19,150 to replace both units, to be paid from town funds. “The downstairs one is pretty much hooked together with duct tape and zip ties right now,” the director said. Councilors discussed using the newly operative upstairs space as a staff break room and noted records are stored safely in the vault; they instructed staff to proceed with replacement and budget adjustments as needed.
