Convention center upgrades continue; ECVA outlines $450,000 capital plan

Annette Kerr, representing the Elko County Convention & Visitors Authority (ECVA), told commissioners that the authority concluded a burdensome lease and that the conference center has been reconveyed to the ECVA. Kerr reviewed completed work this fiscal year — drainage and vault repair, sewer line replacement, theater LED lights, new theater screen and partial exterior painting — and said the >$10,000 capital list for the year totals $450,000 with next year’s larger projects estimated at about $500,000.
Kerr also described sub‑$5,000 capital needs (radios, cameras, maintenance) and said those smaller purchases (about $150,000 this year) are funded from general funds and room tax revenue. Commissioners thanked the ECVA for resolving a lease burden and for moving forward on preventive maintenance and security upgrades.
