Porter board denies $525.52 vehicle-damage claim, cites insufficient proof

Sheila Buster asked the Town of Porter Board on July 3 to pay $525.52 to repair damage she said resulted from hitting a pothole at the intersection of Finale Avenue and Main Street near the stop sign. The estimate from Shelton and Gray Wheel Service for $525.52 was submitted to the Board for review.
Board members questioned whether the damage could reliably be linked to a stopped position at the stop sign. Norma Meyer said that if Ms. Buster had to stop at the sign, she did not see how striking the pothole could have caused that level of front-end damage. Mayor Steve Dickey said there was not adequate information to prove causation. The Board voted to deny the claim; motions and the vote were recorded as unanimous.
