The JHTTB approved an Executive Director job description with several targeted edits at its Feb. 3 special meeting.
Ms. Bess moved to approve the job description and Ms. Holbrook seconded. Board members discussed language to ensure the role has autonomy to lead the organization while remaining supported by the board and to avoid language that might preclude qualified applicants. The board agreed to replace references to "Board Chair" with "Board" in two duty bullets, add language that candidates "and/or has a demonstrated understanding of the Teton County, WY community" to minimum qualifications, require a WY/ID license, add "in consultation with the Board" to an organizational leadership bullet, and add a skills bullet calling for a "strategic and creative thinker" able to design forward-looking solutions.
Mr. Pope noted he agrees the position should have autonomy but said he does not believe the current draft undermines that autonomy. The motion to adopt the job description passed 6-0.
