Orange County approves bond authorizations and accepts public‑safety and health grants

The Orange County Legislature approved a package of bond resolutions and grant acceptances during the Feb. 5 session.
Bond actions included authorization to issue $341,769 in bonds for Parks heavy‑duty equipment; $60,000 to establish a capital project for a prebuilt pesticide building and heater at Stony Ford Golf Course; $177,560 for Stony Ford golf equipment; and $128,126 for Hickory Hill golf equipment. All bond resolutions were adopted by roll call and include statements of probable usefulness and financing plans.
On grants and reimbursements, the Legislature accepted $236,207 from the U.S. Department of Justice (FY 2024 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program) as reimbursement for housing undocumented immigrants at the county correctional facility (period cited July 1, 2022–June 30, 2023). It accepted $51,738 from NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services for the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (de‑escalation/conflict management training) and $36,741.95 for Ignition Interlock Device monitoring to the Office of Probation. The Legislature also authorized submission of a Municipal Parks and Recreation Grant application (up to $900,000) for Cronomer Hill Park ADA upgrades; if awarded, that grant requires a 10% local match.
