She said Virginia Crossroads is interviewing a marketing consultant to rebuild the website so it will direct visitors to county webpages while providing trip-planning tools and blogs. Hawthorne said social media and co-branded materials will be used to promote the region without asking for extra county funding during the current cycle.
Board members asked about connections between the county’s marketing efforts and Virginia Crossroads’ online presence and discussed possible co-branding opportunities; Hawthorne recommended coordination with civil-rights and civil-war trail partners for linking sites and resources.
