Virginia Navigator reports 877 local resources in Dinwiddie and new cancer-support landing page

Bonnie Shimon, lead community specialist and Virginia Navigator representative, updated the board on Navigator services and local partnerships. Shimon said the statewide Navigator database contains more than 26,000 programs and that a county search returns 877 services that serve Dinwiddie County; she also described partner sites such as libraries, churches and a veteran-service organization that function as local navigator centers.
Shimon said the Navigator has added a Virginia Cancer Support Hub landing page to provide patients and caregivers with information about clinical trials, financial help and transportation options. She described outreach to county employees and plans to train partners to use the resource and distribute a new co-branded 4x9 informational card. Shimon said the local partnership includes 15 navigator centers and that she will continue outreach and training in the county.
Supervisors thanked Shimon and offered to coordinate distribution through county partners; no funding request was made at the meeting.
