Coosa County awards highway materials bids; limestone to be rebid

During the Sept. 10 session the commission reviewed and approved results of highway materials bids. Commissioner John Forbus moved to award the metal pipe contract to Fallin Farms; commissioners approved. For granite, the commission awarded #4, #78 and crusher run to Hardrock Hill and awarded granite #57 to APAC; Hardrock Hill did not bid on granite #5 and #6. Commissioner John Forbus moved to award the liquid asphalt bid to Vulcan Asphalt and the motion passed. Commissioner Bertha K. McElrath moved to award the fuel bid to Red-River and that motion also carried unanimously.
The minutes record that no bids were received for limestone or cement during this solicitation; commissioners approved rebidding limestone. All bid awards on record were approved by unanimous vote and the commission recessed to continue business Sept. 30, 2024.
